John Casablancas has been stirring up a lot of controversy in the modelling and acting arena in recent times. Yet others have been encouraged by the career centers stating how they have helped them to launch their modelling and acting careers.

Classes to be expected at John Casablancas include:. Sounds very established to me. So why on earth do people keep claiming that John Casablancas is a scam? Well, unfortunately it is based on the success rate of the students as well as the confusion brought about by the school in drawing a line between an agency and an educational institution. John Casablancas is a business, and naturally there are two objectives of this institution — to attract students and generate an income. Hence, a lot of the complaints come from students based on their confusion between the two due to their lack of understanding.

So let me break it down for you for you to fully understand if this institution and agency is the right option for you. If you do not wish to take classes in modeling or acting, John Casablancas is not for you. If you decide that you do need classes, be prepared to spend and this is the same with EVERY educational institution because you must pay for knowledge and help in this field.

However, as stated earlier, there are many negative comments online about the service provided and here are a few examples:. When I worked there I was not able to tell people the truth about anything. The company tells everyone that they have 12 spaces available to get them to come in, when in fact they have unlimited space. They have plenty of space they just say that to create a sense of urgency so they can close the sale.

They make people think that they are at the office to see if they would want to work with them as models or actors, when really they are only trying to sign you for classes. Mad , San Diego, California. They accept anybody who will give them the money that is their whole goal. They are unprofessional and if you are thinking of joining JohnCasaBlanca run as fast as you can, Trumex.

We paid for three years of service and she only visited the school for months, concerned mum. I was told on the phone I have an interview for modelling with possible TV Commercial jobs lined up. We felt pressure to sign up and give a dollar deposit for the school and commit to pay 87 bucks a week for school.

However, One thing that modeling agencies in particular get a bad name for is over promising and under delivering, and given the comments above and what you might have already read online, you should be mindful of this if you are considering using the John Casablancas modeling and career centers. On a positive note, many of the positive comments about John Casablancas speak very highly of how it helps to improve the self-esteem of young children.

This is very pleasing to hear, and many parents have spoken about how confident their children were after completing the training. So, if you are scouted by the John Casablancas agency, or indeed you are researching the service offered, be mindful of both the reported negative and positive comments about the service they provide.

The choice now is for you to decide if you would like to take the John Casablancas route to get discovered, or if you would prefer to develop your talent with an alternative agency.

If you are an experienced or trained model or talent looking for agency representation, we would like the opportunity to meet you to find out if you qualify to work with MTM. I was considering taking an acting course outside of school to get into the business and I heard about John Casablancas having an acting course and my parents enrolled me there. Board of Education certified: In many states, the agency is registered and certified with the State Board of Education, so it is officially recognized as a provider of education and instruction. After you are taught and they see you put forth the effort you will be signed to the agency separate from school. I filmed my first commercial yesterday.

I am very happy. I am a working actor thanks to John Casablancas. All the negative reviews are from people who expect jobs and fame without the work. You go to auditions and you are chosen based off talent or look, not because of your agency. How is this even a question? Thank you all for all of the opportunities I've been given through your agency. John Casablancas is the best thing that has happened to my daughter.

We went to every class and got involved just like we would in regular school. We helped her take notes, reminded her to get her JC homework done, etc. The classes were very well set up.

This is the real deal. The JC instructors were there to answer to all our questions. We took all of the knowledge they provided and put in the hard work. Now my daughter has graduated JC and is getting nationally placed as well as auditioning for roles and walking the runway in youth fashion shows. Thank you so much to JC and Josh Grooms. Yes it cost me a lot of money, yes the purpose is for training.

However, those who come to the building and actually listen to the person giving the speech at the audition know all of this. Any agency is going to charge you a fee for classes. The training is legit, the classes teach a lot, and the teachers are also talent.

They have gone through the exact same process. I myself have just been selected to go to LA. This is not a scam. This is all real, and if you take the risk and go through the process, then you would know that. The only people I see on here who are making negative remarks and reviews about JC are people who don't even try, or don't do what they are supposed to in order to succeed.

This is an amazing school! The classes are self-paced. They are familiar with the industry and you may land gigs anytime, so you can move your class schedule around as much as needed. They bring in other professionals from the respective industry. They are the best teachers. I enjoy every class I take with them, and they have already helped me land several projects I am happy to be a part of!

It is so worth it if you are interested at all in the modeling and entertainment industry. Long story short, my daughter is a college student and was asked to come in for an audition.

She went to Cincinnati, auditioned on September 16th and they invited her to attend the training classes. They filled her head with how great she could be and wanted to train her for modeling and acting. She called me and told me what they had said and when I pushed back saying I couldn't pay that amount at that time they immediately offered to cut the down payment in half and to have us pay every two weeks for a year.

My daughter was very excited because of what they had told her so I said alright and they set up an automatic debit to my account. Her first class would be September 28th, about 2 weeks after the initial audition, and after about 2 days she realized that she wouldn't be able to do this with her course load at college.

She has been calling them at the number they provided, and had received calls from prior to the audition, 2 to 3 times a day since then. There is no answering machine, voice mail, actually nothing at all.

Every time she calls the number it beeps once and then hangs up. Since when does a reputable company conduct business in this manner, to me this has all the ear marks of a scam.

I would tell everyone to stay away from this so called company, it is my opinion that they are just taking peoples money with no intent of providing anything to them. I find it very interesting that every review talks about how they were taken by this company but just recently a few reviews about how great they are suddenly appears on this site.

I can't help but wonder who wrote those and even with them they still only have a 1. Who discusses finances in front of a 6 year old! And anyone demanding you sign today. JC had a great rep for years. This is what happens when a franchise goes rogue!! The classes are fun but they get you nowhere! No guarantee of getting actual paid work. This is a company that overall makes money off of kids that want to be models and actors.

Now I'm taking a silly commercial acting class and day 1 of class it becomes pretty obvious that this is just for fun and none of us are going to be in a commercial. It's like take your John Casablancas commercial acting class and put it on your resume and that's it. A real agency pays YOU! Look those schools up and go to LA or NY. Source s :. Add a comment. This Site Might Help You. John Casablancas. Source s : bfa in theater, professional model now a med student; i know its a big jump.

Nobody can know for sure that an "agency" is a scam, or presumably it would be across the newspapers and TV and Facebook etc. But no reputable agency asks for money up front. No agency can guarantee that you will make a success of a career in acting or modelling. Good luck. Just like Barbizon and John Robert Powers.

Don't get fooled when you read an ad by them or hear their ads on the radio. What they do is teach you how to model and act, AND they teach you how to start out in the business as a model or actress BUT they are not an agency therefore they will NOT find you work once you graduate. Take it from me, I've been there. I took classes from Barbizon in 7th grade and all I got were lessons on beauty, runway walking, speech, presentation, and posing.

After I graduated with them they had sent me a "model card" that I was supposed to fill out and they were "supposed to HELP" me get into an agency. I sent it but I never heard from them again. Around the start of high school I often heard on the radio these advertisements saying if you wanna be a model or actress to call a certain number, no experience necessary, and that you can end up in tv shows like Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire and even in Nickelodeon movies.

I called the number and they gave me the address where to go to audition. I went, auditioned, and the lady tolkd me she was ganna give me a call back if I made the top 5. I made the top 5 and she called me back and had me read some lines and kept telling me I was great THEN, the catch happened! She told me that before I was to be placed in their "agency" that I needed to attend their school first and had some paperwork she wanted my parents to sign and that it was a few hundred dollars per class and whatever.

That's when we realized it was too good to be true and we decided not to go through with it because I had already attended a school for this before. Then in my senior year of high school, I was really getting into acting and I was even in my school's drama class and drama club. I was considering taking an acting course outside of school to get into the business and I heard about John Casablancas having an acting course and my parents enrolled me there.

I took the classes there which by the way were really good classes, and upon graduating they were signing me in their MGM Agency. The thing was though, that I was supposed to register through their site and keep checking back for acting jobs in my area.

That's my "big break". I thought it was stupid and just felt like I got scammed. Those, by the way, are false, because none of those famous people attended their school. And if you wanna be a model, I would advise you to look up modeling agencies and go to their website, they always post up dates for casting calls and real model searches. Elite and Ford are 2 of the top agencies I cant think of right now. Don't get fooled by imitation modeling and acting schools that will lead you nowhere.

Also, A real modeling agency doesn't ask for any upfront fees. They have tons of models to work with so they make that from each of them lol. If you're ever asked to pay anything upfront, be sure it's a scam and run like the wind!

A real agency pays YOU! Not collects your money for classes and photos. Just remember that. Please don't go to John Casablanca unless you fully understand that you are just getting a class. I wish I would have listened to my gut after reading the reviews of JC Talent Agency and cancelled my son's call back audition.

He refused to connect me with current families as a reference and refused to allow me anytime to make my decision. Since I wasn't ready to pay that day we were told JC is not the right fit for our family. Well he was correct about that. I wouldn't want to potentially pay to have adults exhibit this type of behavior in front of my children. This experience was very upsetting. I hope parents can learn from our experience. I am now 42 yrs old and when I was 16 back the mid ninety's I lived in Memphis,TN and was going to school when this modeling agency come in and started their spiel to get kids to sign up and then they would call you if you made the cut.

Me being new to the school and city and no friends I filled the card out and the next day my mom got a call and because I was an overweight teen, had lost my father, very low self esteem and etc, she thought it would be a good idea and told them she would bring me in and being that age I was not stupid. We went to this meeting and they told my mom all kinds of stuff and blah blah blah and I felt so uneasy. And she signed me up because she was feeling guilty as a mom and laid out a check for grand for modeling classes and I went to these no training classes twice a week and was never taught anything.

The sad thing is a lot of other parents who have problems like this fall for these people. I ended up walking away from this company and moved back home with family. The sad part is my mom put out this money she could have spent on better things for me like the therapy I needed.

They are a real scam. Stay far far away. I do still have the travel bag they gave me all these years later, so sad.
