This week has been a little unnerving.

I've started my antibiotic treatment for the Lyme disease that has been playing house in my body for so long.

It aint easy.

When killing off this bacteria you often experience a worsening of your symptoms before you get better. It's from the bacteria that is being killed and the toxins it's leaving behind.

As you can possibly imagine that isn't fun or easy and, at times, has even become scary.

But I hang on for the ride.

At least now I experience much needed hope.

I now know why the pain and fatigue have been so present in my body for so long, and how to begin getting rid of it all, getting back to me once again.

I took a picture of the corn field next door.

I edited it to my eyes delight.

It brought me some pleasure, I hope it does the same for you.

I thank God for giving me an appreciative eye for His beauty. Not only does it draw me closer to Him, but it also fills my being with much pleasure…much, much.

{how could i not look at nature and think of Him and thank Him for it every single day?}

Today I spent far too much time in front of the television taking it easy.

Really, I must admit, I wasn't as much taking it easy as I was doing my best to make it through the symptoms that slammed my body after the antibiotic this morning.

That tiny white pill packs a powerful punch.

We watched a lot of the Billy the Exterminator marathon on A&E today.

The boys were intrigued by the wild animals and why the Billy Man was saving everything except the wasps.

I walked past my two older boys room tonight and caught a glimpse of them in the same bed, watching tonight's new episode of Billy the Exterminator.

Made my cheeks hurt from grinning.

And then, I joined them.

Sweet ending to another day.

Another day closer to my full recovery.

Another day further away from the hell of not knowing what, why, when, how, if…

Tonight.

Tonight I rest in the Lord's arms, for I need His comforting embrace.

That warm, sweet, tender embrace I've come to know and need and love so much.

A love so tender… an embrace equally so.

Eye of the Tiger

The weather broke.

I saw robins today.

Greeted neighbors with a smile and friendly word about the beautiful weather.

Everyone seems so happy.

My dog walked with me. 10 years old and still going strong.

Geese flooded the little pond at the end of the neighborhood – their honks filled my ears and beckoned Jack to chase them.

It is all so so good.

But the best?

I'm physically able to get out and walk/jog again.

My body is still under an attack but it's winning the battle.

And the weather changing over can only help.

A Cool Splash Of Sun

Like a big fuzzy bear, waking up from his long winter's slumber, we crawled out of our hibernation to greet the cool splash of sunshine on our faces.

Almost feeling like aliens who had never seen the sun before, we dizzily played on the cool playground equipment, and got reacquainted with its charm.

Our feet stomped the damp ground, our hands clutched the cold slide railing and our noses grew a pink hue.

No matter.

We may have been chilly. It may not have been perfect. The sun might have been colder than we'd ideally like…

…but…We were alive and in the moment and present and breathing in the freshness of a nice February day.

And I was right there along side of these great kids I'm entrusted to raise. Taking their picture, running and playing. Feeling the same cool sun on my face, the same breeze in my hair and the same playground at my feet.

There's something extra special about a winter's day at the playground. Something magical happens when your feet touch the wood chips for the first time in a long while.

Here's to cool sun and damp wood chips.

And to being present and engaged.

My Tribe

I have so many beautiful friendships with women I've never met in person. Most of which I'll likely never meet in person, or maybe never even speak to on the phone.

We share each others lives through our blogs and personal email. We send cards and sometimes gifts. We share our hearts and our hopes and our pain and our kids and our deep thoughts.

And it's so very special.

For without these special ladies, I'd have no tribe.

But I must admit that I wish desperately for a tribe of local ladies. A group of close friendships, with like-minded Mother's, that live in driving distance from me.

Women that would come together once a month, or more, for drinks or dinner or shopping. Women that would always be there for each other in the tough times and in the great times. Women that would love my kids as much as I did theirs.

Ladies that were all close and share something deep.

I've never had that. Not really. I've had a few close friendships, but never a real tribe of women that all knew each other and loved each other in that way.

I know it exists, but it continues to elude me.

I'll meet really special women and they'll always end up living hours, or states, or even oceans away from me.

And that was always okay with me growing up. Maybe I'm a bit of a loner by nature. Maybe I adopted some of that from my own Mother, who has never had any really close friendships with women. Maybe it's learned, or just my personality, or just plain bad luck.

Whatever the reason, I just know that the older I get the more I want my own tribe. Now that I have children, work from home, am married… I want those bonds with women more than ever. People that I can relate to and they relate to me.

So, I suppose it's time I do something about that… they won't come knocking on my door. But putting yourself out there, even if you knew where to find such friends, has never been something I can easily do. Not only that, but I think the Internet has ruined me a bit on offline friendships.

Blogging allows you to get to know someone right away. You can look through all their past blog posts, see what they tweet about, and get a really good feeling for whether you'd clique or not.

Offline there is no such thing. Unless you're blessed enough to have best friends who also blog.

So, you see, here I am stuck in the middle of wanting something, and being totally unsure as to how to get what I want. Or if I'd really, really want it once I had it. After all, I've never experienced a large, super close group of girlfriends before.

Friendships are super important. And becoming even more so the older I become.

So if there's anyone out there with young children, who works from home, and blogs, and tweets, and loves God, and is passionate about eating healthy and living healthy AND lives in my area… lets meet! HA! Now that is a tall order, isn't it?
