This Is How I'm Casual Every Day
Did you know I make a full time living from affiliate marketing? I do. And I have since 2004. Over the years I've telecommuted and worked as a virtual assistant, but affiliate marketing is where my "heart" is for making money.
Affiliate marketing is a much more passive way to earn an income from home than the other two options I mentioned above. Sure, you put the work in to build the website or the blog, and you put the work in to maintain it, but you can literally make money when you're sleeping or playing with the kids.
And no, this is not a scam. It may sound too good to be true but it simply isn't.
I own two large content based websites where I make money with google adsense and other affiliates. I now own two smaller review based websites where I make affiliate income from PLR and foreign language products. Every time someone buys from my special link I make a portion of the sale.
I don't ship, I don't handle the money, or returns, or the customers, or the product, or anything…
What I handle is how I get people to my special link. I choose to do this with websites and organic search engine traffic. Meaning I optimize my websites so they show up naturally in the search engines. I also use newsletters and blogs as a source of making money with my affiliate links.
I like the idea that I can build a website in any niche and make money. I'm not limited by anything. If my research shows the niche to potentially be profitable, I can build the site and make money from it.
It's not hard once you get the hang of it.
If you're interested in learning more about affiliate marketing here are some resources I recommend:
- The Super Affiliate Handbook — if you're new to affiliate marketing (or have been around awhile but aren't seeing success) this is the one ebook you really should get. The author was one of the first super affiliates on the web and she still is!
- You'll need reliable web hosting also. I recommend MomWebs.com. The customer support is the best I've ever had with a hosting company. They are reliable, hardly ever causing your site to have any downtime.
- ClickNewz – Lynn Terry is the author of this internet marketing/affiliate marketing blog. A very successful niche affiliate marketer, and Mom, she knows her stuff and teaches it in an easy to understand way. She's very friendly and approachable and I really respect that about her.
- Adsense Secrets – this is currently a free ebook about making more money with google adsense. I purchased this ebook (the older version) years ago and increased my google adsense income by double right away with the advice he teaches.
There's more to being successful as an affiliate marketer, yes. And I'll share tips here and there on the blog. You're free to leave questions on this post, too.
But my best advice would be to seriously look into the resources I mentioned, find someone else who is successful as an affiliate marketer and learn from them, and think big!
You really can earn a full time living from home as an affiliate marketer. And what I mean by "full time living" is thousands of dollars each month. So, seriously, dream big and plan big and work hard —- you could be playing at the park with your kids and making money at the same time.
Just for fun.
Me working. This was a couple of years ago, back when I had a laptop! Have I mentioned I need one of those again?

I'm inspired.
Thank you for sharing.
(and to be honest, I'm intimidated to think of trying it, too)
Ahh, love it! Your home office is much neater than mine! I'm inspired to clean mine now
I'm a "virtual assistant" but I am intriged by the affiliate marketing idea! Thanks for sharing!
That sounds pretty interesting. You've got such sweet kiddos. The minute I get on the computer while mine is awake he's climbing all over me like a monkey.
That is a great picture of you and your son giving the thumbs up signal!
And this is fantastic advice too. I'm going to check out the links.
I hope you'll continue to share your "secrets" and your story. I love hearing about how other WAHMs make working at home…work.
One specific question I have is: Do you have a business license? Do you pay taxes on your affiliate marketing income? How exactly does all of that work from a business standpoint? I'd love to hear more…
