The Mist
I look at him…
And still sometimes get misty eyed that I'm not breastfeeding him.
No matter how lovely I make the bottle-feeding experience, there are still times when I glance down at his chubby little face and wish it were my breast attached to that sweet mouth instead of a bottle.
When he looks up and smiles at me, and milk spills out of his mouth, I wish it were my milk.
When he is hungry, or just wants to be soothed, I wish it were my body that gave him what he needed.
Even though I've found a way to make bottle-feeding a bonding time, and even though I just wrote about how sweet it can be, I still crave what we no longer have.

I know this feeling but maybe not as hard as you. My first weaned at 17 months and that was hard enough! I do feel for you, but you seem to be loving him up good! He looks like a happy baby. I'm dealing with thrush now with my second. Don't think it's as bad as yours was but it still won't go away. Here's what I've done so far http://thesweetestworkonearth.blogspot.com/2009/07/fighting-slush.html
I wish I had something helpful to say.
Have you considered relactating when your candida is under control?
There are a couple stories about "unweaning" on ibreastfed.com

Awww what a sweet picture. He's adorable. I never did the breastfeeding thing so I honestly don't know what it's like or what you are feeling over not being able to do it with him anymore but sorry you are going through these feelings.

Oh Nell, here is a hug. Sorry you feel sad-I just finished nursing JR 3 weeks ago, mostly at his own cue that he just isn't interested in it anymore-but even though I did make it a year of nursing and even though he doesn't want to nurse and only wants to bite or eat food, (which honestly was getting me scared to nurse-ouch!) I'm still a little sad. I think no matter how long we are able to nurse, we all feel a little sad when it is done.
And he has THE CUTEST eyes and face-you just want to kiss him all over! SO ADORABLE!!
