Seriously though!

I am totally outraged at the coverage of her weight gain! As someone who has dealt with eating disorders, it disturbs me greatly. She is still the talented person she has always been… but now she looks like a larger percentage of the population who loves her.

Even President Obama made a joke about it in an interview with Matt Lauer. What is wrong with us?

Even President Obama made a joke about Jessica Simpson's "weight problem" in an interview with Matt Lauer! What is wrong with us that we tolerate this?

No kidding. What a horrible message to our young girls that our size is the most important thing in the world.

We are all more than what we look like on the outside. Whatever happened to the phrase, "don't judge a book by it's cover?"

Remember girls, it is truly who and what we are on the inside that matters, not a jean size on a label!

Sheesh- I think she looks great and am RELIEVED that beautiful people like her are out there because honestly it makes me feel better about the fact that you can not see all my bones. I heard someone call her plus-size. WHAT!?

Dang, I wish I were ONLY that fat! How very sad for her to be harassed about her weight like that by the media, and how scary for our young girls-who dont make money by staying on the treadmill, have personal trainers and the money for personal chefs to count their calories and workouts-to feel that pressure about their appearance. As much as I would just LOVE to have a daughter, in moments like this I am glad that I won't have to see my daughter cry when she thinks she is fat as a size 6. Shame on the media.

At the same time that the media pundits are going after a perfectly healthy woman for being "too fat," they also tell us that "fat is beautiful" and that unhealthy, massively overweight women are to be celebrated. Wow.

I'm sick to death of celebrities being "news" first of all. Why?? Because they make movies or music? That's not news.

I try to avoid talking about losing weight or dieting in front of my girls because I just want them to learn how to be healthy. It's ridiculous that this "regular" sized woman is being splashed across the media. I hope she stands up to it and makes a statement for all the "regular" women out there.

I am so sickened by the way people are chatting this up! She is a beautiful girl and if she has put on weight good for her. She shouldn't have to conform to what Hollywood says is beautiful! Curves are beautiful as well because they are what represent a woman in most societies. Everywhere else in the world she would be commended for a weight gain! Only here do we discourage our women from showing off their curves and i for one am disgusted and always have been. I totally agree with the statement if she is fat then i am a buffalo (or i have been saying elephant).

I think she looks beautiful! i love her looking "normal" as a woman should. She's not even FAT or barley curvy…she looks awesome!

BTW: Buffalo? Come on now Nell! That was funny…made me laugh, but I highly doubt your the size of a buffalo's left hind leg.

I agree! If she is fat then I am a walking shed! What is our Celebrity news coming to? Our poor girls growing up these days with that stuff. No wonder eating disorders are on the rise.

Dont have much to add other than Amen! I hate what this world is doing to MY daughter – she's so obsessed with her weight and "look" and she's only 9 – it's impossible to believe.

This photo is from an appearance that actually took place in my neck of the woods. It was a chili cookoff. I have seen something featuring her photo at least three times now, and I don't even go looking for celebrity news! Mostly what I have heard is that her jeans aren't flattering and that she should have rethought the belt that makes her torso look shorter.

great post! and its weird because I think she looks fabulous. I would hate to live in the spotlight and have everyone exclaiming over every little thing that is "wrong" with me. Some would say that it comes with the territory of being famous. And I might agree with the publicity coming with it, but not the vicious nature of the press. Saying somebody deserves it because they are famous just gives the press free reign to be just downright mean.

I agree that she looks great…but I read in celebrity mag – ya I know, lol, but I gotta keep up with the hollywood gossip – that because she's on tour right now she's been eating a lot of fast food. She says once the tour's done, she plans on getting back into shape.

So you'll see her juttin' bones soon enough…and I just have to wonder if this whole thing wasn't some sort of publicity play. Just look at the massive amount of attention she's gotten – a lot of people are making bad comments, but she's also stirred up the sympathy and compassion of tons of women across the globe.

So, is it real life, or publicity stunt to get career exposure as she makes the move from pop to country?
