Greenie Girl Goals
Amy at Crunchy Domestic Goddess has asked what our Green Goals are for 2009. Her simple question made me think what I'd like to do this year to be more green and natural. I'd already planned on a few changes in our lifestyle but because of her post I sat down last night and wrote our list.
My Green Goals
Buy, install and use a laundry line outside. Not only will it help me towards being green but will also save us money. Plus I just love the smell of line dried clothes.
Make and use a homemade laundry detergent. Again this will help us be more green by cutting back on the plastic bottles we have to buy each month but it'll also save us a lot of money.
Purchase a water filtration system for the house. We go through so much bottled water now and I know how terrible that is for the earth. Not to mention the wallet. Again, saving Mother Earth and our budget!
Cloth diapering. I've already purchased some but have yet to use them because our parents purchased diapers for us before I could tell them not to. I hate to be wasteful so we'll start the diapering as soon as our disposal stash is gone. Great for the environment and will save us a ton of money.
Start a garden. We have a great backyard for a garden. In fact the old man that used to live here had a huge garden when he lives here. Our neighbors grow a garden each year too. I'd like to try my hand at a small garden this year and hope I don't kill everything or the local bunnies don't dine on my goods too much.
And if we have the money we'd like to get a windmill. We both would like to do solar panels on the roof and a windmill but of course those two things cost a lot of money up front so it'll depend on our budget for this year. We've got the perfect house for both as we get blazing sun and whipping winds in the spring, summer and fall months.
I hope I can meet all these goals this year. I'm sure going to give it my best college try!
