I Feel The Same

My husband made a comment to me while we're driving to the grocery store the other day. Let me set the scene first.

It was about 3pm, neither child had taken a nap (normal nowadays), they were both being extra wild and crazy and pushing each other's buttons quite well. They were doing a good job at pushing our buttons also.

Nicky was sitting behind Daddy in the car and kicking his seat. After a few times of telling him to stop Daddy finally got loud and that caused Nicky to cry.

Daddy turned to me and said "I don't know how you do this every day." To which I responded that sometimes I wasn't even sure how I do it every day.

But later that night I thought about that statement. And I feel the same way as he does. I don't know how he does what he does every day. Getting up early every day to drive into work, stand on his feet all day long, deal with cranky people and boring downtime only to come home to craziness and no quiet.

As much as I get tired and nerves stand on end with my "job" I know he has the same feelings when at his job. I have so much respect for what he does for his family and he has the same respect for what I do for our family.

Bottom line is we both work hard. Much of our work goes unappreciated or unthanked. (i know. not a real word) We don't have enough time for ourselves or each other right now, but we wouldn't have our lives any other way. Okay, so maybe we'd like more money and more peace but we'll get there. :–)

We must be on the same wave length. I just wrote this same post! Aren't these men wonderful?

that mutual appreciation/admiration is so important! Without that base of respect, sad to say you have nothing… I can testify to that. Love has to spring from that place in a marriage.

You guys are so sweet!

I definitely understand the button pushing too… deep breathing works for me :)

You are so right. I feel the same, too!

I feel the exact same way about my husband and I tell him that I admire how hard he works for us and he tells me he admires and knows how hard I work as a mom. We've got some great guys huh?

I am right with you.

Working in the trenches of raising and teaching my children can be extremely difficult at times. I question myself often. But in the end I know in my heart I am right where my Lord wants me.

Nell,

I feel the same way as you. My husband works the second shift, works on trains all days comes home and climbs into bed at 1am and is back up to spend that half hour with the girls before the climb on the bus…..

I wonder too how does he do it? But then he asks me the same thing. He wants to now how I do it all day when the kids are home all day and running wild.

It just makes me love and appreciate my husband even more!
