Its Been One Heck Of A Week
Okay, so lets see what has been going on.
Last week today I was in the ER for a racing heart, faintness, extreme fatigue.
They said I was dehydrated (even though I had already had 8-10 glasses of water that day) and pumped me full of fluids.
They checked many different things. Everything checked out except my potassium levels. At the time they told me that I had no idea how much that could affect my body. The ER doctor didn't stress how this was affecting my body — in fact, she said it wasn't the cause of my symptoms.
Thankfully I decided to do some research online the next day about this. I was stunned. Nearly every symptom listed was exactly what I was experiencing. The dehydration, the extreme fatigue, the muscle aches, the irritability … and so on. In fact, if it gets so bad it can affect your heart, nervous system, and blood pressure. Which again explained a lot.
I went on a high potassium diet. I went on a supplement. I got off any and all "bad" foods and have been living on vegetables, lean meats, eggs, rice, potatoes and so forth. I'm eating the healthiest I have in a long time. Mind you, I was eating foods with potassium in them so I am still confused as to why this has happened to me, but nonetheless I now know I need more than I was getting.
Having said that, the past week has not been easy. There were many times I literally felt like my body was going to give out on me. Like I would literally lose control of my systems and leave this earth. I'm not one to exaggerate or freak out…so this should tell you how badly I felt.
I was basically bed ridden and couldn't even sit up to eat. I drank and drank and drank. I was always thirsty. Even up until yesterday I felt absolutely terrible. But then I noticed I began to turn a corner. And here I sit. Tired. Still fatigued, but compared to where I have been I can feel the healing happening. My potassium levels are up and fine. My OB said that my body has been tasked so much this past week, and because I'm carrying a baby inside of me it'll just take me a bit longer than normal to recover totally.
The good news is that I don't have GD according to two blood tests, the baby is perfectly fine and healthy and moving around like crazy…and I'm slowly on the mend. I know God has a hand in this healing of mine so keep those prayers coming. I'm so ready for a full healing!
